Cities of Arrival: How do immigrant and first generation populations access dispute resolution mechanisms in newly arrived urban centres: The case of Toronto

This roundtable brings together members of the legal community, academia, and civil society partners to examine issues facing immigrant and first generation citizens access to dispute resolution mechanisms such as:

1. Whether and to what extent is this population aware of their obligations, rights and remedies?

2. Whether and to what extent are formal and/or effective and impartial informal dispute resolution mechanisms accessible to this population?

3. What are the challenges faced in accessing dispute resolution mechanisms (knowledge, trust, accessibility)?

4. What are the opportunities that exist in accessing dispute resolution mechanisms?
